Celebrating International Day of Peace in Barcelona and exhibition...

Resum:

On 21 September the International Catalan Institute for Peace (ICIP) commemorates the International Day of Peace. As part of this celebration the photographic exhibition "Women barefoot» will be inaugurated.

The exhibition "Women Barefoot" (Dones descalces) which opens on September 21 at the Catalan Institute for International Peace is based on Resolution 1325 of UN Security Council that recognizes the work of women in the prevention and settlement conflict and in peacebuilding.

The photographs collect portraits of thirteen women who work for peace in Israel and Palestine.

With this exhibition, the ICIP wants to show its appreciation to the work and the strength of these women and give them visibility. It also aims to echo the Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security Council of the United Nations Security adopted in 2000 to remember the impact of armed onwomen and girls.

The principle purpose of the ICIP is to promote a culture of peace in Catalonia as well as throughout the world, to endorse peaceful solutions and conflict resolutions and to endow Catalonia with an active role as an agent of peace.
