More than a hundred Catalan books translated in 2009

  • Catalan culture, all over the world

2009 has confirmed the good state of Catalan literature and its international projection with 102 books translated in 21 different languages. Amongst them besides Spanish with 31 translations, the more important languages have been French (13), followed by German (12) and English (8).

Two years after being guest of honor at the Franckfort Books Fair Catalan literature confirms its good state. Coinciding with this increase in publications the Institut Ramon Llull has also increased the number of grants for translations.

The most translated authors for 2009 have been Quim Monzó (6 languages); Albert Sánchez Piñol (4 languages) and Jaume Cabré, now available in French and Norwegian.
