Oxfam Trailwalker 2011 in Barcelona

Intermón Oxfam is working to organise one of the greatest sports and solidarity challenges in Spain: the Trailwalker. The first edition of Trailwalker in Spain will took place in May 2011 in a natural area close to Barcelona, a walker’s path know as "3 Monts", in the natural Parks of Montseny, Sant Llorenç del Munt and l'Obac and Montserrat.

Trailwalker is a team challenge in which 4 people have to walk 100 kms together in a a maximum of 36 hours. Registration is now open and the only condition is that teams committ to raising funds for the hundreds of projects Intermón Oxfam runs around the world.

The event began in 1981 as a military exercise for the elite Queen's Gurkha Signals Regiment in Hong Kong, and has since grown into one of the world's leading sporting challenges. Since 1997 the trailwalker has become one of the major sports events in different places of the globe. The first edition took place in Hong Kong and then in other countries where Oxfam is present such as UK, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Belgium or Canada among others.

Now, Spain joins the challenge by organising its first Trailwalker in a natural environment near Barcelona known as «3 monts» (three mountains).
